Finnish Flute Festival

REGISTRATION

Registration for the festival is done by filling out the form below. Registration is open between 15.8.2022-15.9.2022. Registration is binding, please read the terms of cancellation carefully (below). 

After the end of the registration period we will send information by 23.9.2022 to the email adress you provided, which masterclasses or workshops are available or for which you have been selected, along with the total fees. This payment should be completed by 30.9.2022. The rates for the Finnish Flute Association members are valid immediately when joining the association. 

Passes
  • All participants must purchase a festival pass.
  • Day or weekend pass can be paid to the Finnish Flute Association’s account when registering. 
  • Weekend pass includes entry to all concerts, lectures, screening of young players and other events with no participant limits, from Friday to Sunday.
  • Day pass includes entry to all concerts, lectures, screening of young players and other events with no participant limits, on a chosen day.
  • It is possible to purchase passes at the Helsinki Music Center during the festival. We recommend registering and paying in advance, to guarantee your entry.
Free events

Some events may be accessed without the festival pass. These are:

  • Concerts
  • Instrument exhibition in the foyer
  • Open stage
  • Screening for listeners
Masterclasses by foreign guests (also Alanko/Nielsen)
  • Masterclasses are aimed mainly at students in professional studies (university, college) and professional flutists. Students from second degree (conservatory) and junior department of the Sibelius Academy and other advanced younger students may attend, if spaces left in classes.
  • Participants of masterclasses will be chosen based on videos. The video is informal (5 to 10 minutes), upload your video to YouTube. It does not have to include the piece to be played at the masterclass. An email to the participants and final schedule will be sent by 23.9.2022. The link to the YouTube video is to be added to the registration form, published on 15.8.2022.
  • If you register in more than one masterclass, please name them in order of your wishes. We cannot guarantee a place in more than one masterclass. 
  • Listeners are more than welcome. 
  • Chosen active participants of masterclasses must also purchase a festival pass, excluding the students of Sibelius Academy.

Junior Masterclasses by teachers of the Sibelius Academy
  • These masterclasses are aimed at second degree (conservatory) students and music school students with skills of the old basic level 3 of Finnish music education.
  • Participants will be chosen based on videos. The video is informal (about 5 minutes). It does not have to include the piece to be played in the masterclass. The teacher of the student can send a recommendation to the Flute Association. The recommendation is to be sent via email by 15.9.2022 to . The registration form will be published on 15.8.2022.
  • You may wish for a certain teacher on the form. We cannot guarantee all wishes to take place. 
  • If you register for more than one masterclass, please name them in order of your wishes. We cannot guarantee a place in more than one masterclass. 
  • It is possible to follow the masterclasses with the festival pass.
  • Chosen active participants of masterclasses must also purchase a festival pass.
  • Masterclasses are free of charge
Workshops
  • For some workshops the participants are chosen based on videos. These workshops are Gundrun Hinzes piccolo workshops, Anna Garzuly-Wahlgrens rchestral excerpts workshop and Matthias Zieglers Improvisation workshop. The video is informal, duration about 5 minutes 
  • Place in a workshop is announced via email by 23.9.2022.
Lectures
  • Lectures and open workshops are included in festival passes.
  • No registering needed.
  • Alexander-technique and ”Playing from the core”-workshops (both in Finnish) can have max. 25 participants.
Flute Ensembles
  • Participation in flute ensembles playing is included in the festival passes.
  • Registration via festival pass form. The registration form will be published on 15.8.2022.
  • The sheet music will be delivered by e-mail before the festival to those who have registered.
Morning warm-ups
  • Included in festival passes.
  • Take your flute with you!
Concerts
  • Included in festival passes.
  • Open to everyone.
Lunch Fri/Sat/Sun
  • Lunch is served at the Artist restaurant at the Music Center, 1st floor, at 12-15. 
  • Register for lunch in advance via the festival pass form.
  • Lunch is paid at the restaurant when eating (children up to 11 yrs 7€  and adults 11,30€).
  • Please enter possible special diets and allergies via the festival pass form.

Weekend pass
  • 60€ / adult, member of the Finnish Flute Association
  • 30€ / under 25 yrs or a student, member of the Finnish Flute Association
  • 110€ / adult
  • 50€ / under 25 yrs or a student
Day pass
  • 40€ (Friday 20€) / adult, member of the Finnish Flute Association
  • 20€ / under 25 yrs or a student, member of the Finnish Flute Association
  • 50€ (perjantai 30€) / adult
  • 25€ / under 25 yrs or a student
Masterclasses
  • Attending the Junior Masterclasses of Sibelius Academy teachers (active and passive) is free of charge.
  • Attending the masterclasses of our foreign guests as an active participant is 20€, passive/listeners are free of charge (also Alanko/Nielsen).
  • All active participants must purchase a festival pass, excluding the students of Sibelius Academy.

Screening for young flute players and Open stage
  • Participation fee for screening is free for the members of Finnish Flute Association, for others the fee is 15€.
  • Open Stage is free.
  • Flutists must buy a festival pass, if they wish to attend other events of the festival.
  • Guardians of the flutists may attend the player`s performance free of charge. If they wish to attend other events of the festival, they must buy the festival pass (member rates apply here).

TERMS OF CANCELLATION

Registration is binding and in case the participant cancels for personal reasons, the fees will not be returned. 

 

REGISTRATION FORMS

Enrollment for masterclasses, certain workshops and screening has ended 15.9.2022, but you may still get your festival pass here to participate on certain events. The registartion will close on 30.9.2022
